Washing and Cleaning
Any “Household Cleaning Product” that doesn’t exclude using on vinyl is okay to use. Follow the instructions on the labels and use as directed. The products below are available at most Walmart, Hardware and Big Box Stores.
Before tackling the entire area, test the products in a smaller area to confirm it will handle the task. Keep in mind that some products and solutions may harm plants and vegetation.
Mold or Mildew
A simple solution of bleach and water can do the trick, with bleach making up 50% or less of the solution. A high-pressure washer or hand pump sprayer can be used to apply the solution.
Vinyl Siding Washes – Jomax House Cleaner & Mildew Killer is the most popular choice and works well when cleaning around plants and grass.
Rust and Hard Water Stains
CLR (Calcium, Lime and Rust) – Its primary purpose is to get rid of rust, scale and residue caused by hard water on various materials.
Whink is a powerful formula that effectively removes mineral deposits.
Most toilet bowl cleaners are effective at cleaning and removing hard water scales.
Rub Marks, Shallow Scratches and Stubborn Stains
Awesome and SOS pads can be used together. Spray the area with Awesome and let it sit for a couple of seconds. Use the SOS pad to scrub the area back and forth lengthwise of the vinyl profile. Do not use a circular motion.
Paint, Grease, Scuff Marks, Ink, Tar and More
Lacquer Thinner – Dampen a clean WHITE rag with Lacquer Thinner. Rub the area as needed. Remember to use a fresh section of the rag for each swipe to avoid smudging. DO NOT USE A COLORED RAG. To remove paint, the rag may need to be more saturated (do not scrub). Lacquer Thinner may remove the shine and dull the area where used.
Vinyl fences have gained immense popularity over the years, thanks to their durability, low maintenance requirements and attractive appearance. To ensure its longevity and pristine condition, it’s important to make sure your vinyl fence is looking its best.
Dirt and Debris
Accumulated dirt and debris can affect the beauty of your vinyl fence by sticking to the fencing. To keep it looking its best, make a habit of clearing leaves, branches and dirt.
A leaf blower or a simple broom can make quick work of clearing away debris, and it’s a task that only takes a few minutes but can have a big impact on your fence’s appearance.
